UNDERSTANDING THE CONDITION

What it means.

Lumbar canal narrowing can cause leg pain, heaviness, numbness, or weakness with standing and walking, often relieved by sitting or forward flexion. Symptoms and severity vary from patient to patient, so the diagnosis should be based on the complete clinical picture rather than a single symptom or imaging finding.

EVALUATION

Find the source before treating it.

At Renova Pain, evaluation begins with the history and physical examination. Imaging and prior records are reviewed when appropriate. The goal is to identify the most likely source of symptoms before recommending treatment.

POSSIBLE TREATMENT PATHWAYS

Treatment should fit the diagnosis.

Rehabilitation
epidural steroid injection in selected patients
MILD for appropriately selected stenosis
surgical referral when indicated

When should you be evaluated?

Persistent, worsening, or function-limiting symptoms deserve an individualized evaluation. New or progressive weakness, bowel or bladder dysfunction, saddle numbness, severe headache with neurologic change, or other concerning symptoms may require urgent medical assessment.
